John started playing aged 12 at Shawhill GC, Chorley and went straight from school to work at Shawhill GC under Ian Evans. He then worked at Hurlston Hall GC from 1994 to 1997 and then was fortunate enough to receive sponsorship from Kammac plc which enabled him to play full time from 1997 to 2000 during which time he became PGA Qualified.

Since joining Huyton in 2000, he has qualified for the Club Professionals Tournament four times, winning once at Mottram Hall with a score of 4 under par. He was then invited with two others, to represent England in the European Club Professionals Championship in Sardinia.
He won the Regional qualifier for The Open in 2003 at Ormskirk and reached the Final Qualifier in 2004 and 2010, as well as winning various PGA Tournaments, Pro Ams, Alliances and Interclub Tournaments. John is currently on the Lancashire PGA and North Region PGA Committees. He is the course record holder at Darwen GC.
John keeps a very well stocked shop which, when he is teaching or playing, is looked after by his assistant Aaron.

Aaron runs a number of classes for junior golfers, usually on Saturday lunchtimes, which are open to all youngsters in the area. If you fancy giving your child a taste of golf, give them a ring and book a place.

Fisher claims home victory

Huyton and Prescot professional golfer John Fisher won the Frank Till Trophy when the Liverpool Alliance opened its autumn-winter season on his home course recently.
Fisher did not drop even one shot to par on the way to a 43 points total, five clear of second place Nick Sargent from Eastham Lodge.
Fisher, with club amateur Keith Wilson, also managed to win the am-am with 47 points.
The trophy was presented by professional Neil Brazell form Regents Park, Bolton and Keith Wilson in appreciation of Frank Till's years of service to the Alliance. Frank first played golf at Bolton Municipal more than 50 years ago before joining Huyton and Prescot more than 40 years ago.
